There's nothing earth-shattering here. The seeds look pretty good, but I wish they matched up Fort Bragg and St. Helena with other teams. But, I know it's a difficult thing to create, so ultimately I'm happy. I can't wait for the first slate of games Friday night. How about you? Do you have an issue with the seeds? If so, leave your wisdom in the comments.

Any idea why St. Mary's is over Piedmont and Justin?
I'm not sure, but the only thing I can see is that Piedmont's loss to Moreau Catholic (55-9) was much worse than St. Mary's loss to Moreau Catholic (33-14), and Piedmont beat Justin Siena. That's just my guess...
privates like justin and saint marys have to be furious, that privates like marin cath, and cardinal newman folded down to destroy their private party.
I think all the public schools need to get together and form there own playoff system. It is disheartening that they have to play against schools that "don't recruit" and can control how many kids are in the student body. Many states have there playoff system separated between public and private.
Very limited creativity with these selections ... san marin@fort bragg st.helena @justin is the play...not rematches! do a little work cifncs. willits@middletown again 3-7 healdsburg@newman? just for the money? kids could get hurt.
In southern California they are going to experiment by setting up playoff Divisions by "talent" and not school size. I'm not sure how they are going to evaluate that, but it would prevent situations like Cardinal Newman and Marin Catholic playing schools like Fort Bragg and Harker.
No love for the defending division 4 champions. It's ok Justin will show Newman up in the second round.
The thing about the public vs private schools and the student population. After looking at a couple of private schools web sites including cardinal Newman they do not take special ed kids. But if you go to public school special ed kids count towards your student population. It's wrong that cardinal Newman and Marin moved down and the NCS needs to correct this, or the public schools need to leave
Interesting looking at the enrollment numbers for div 4: Marin Catholic 714; Fort Bragg 524; St Helena 525; Moreau Catholic 890; Hercules 1,021; Saint Mary's 618; Encinal 1,035; Cardinal Newman 684; Healdsburg 715; Justin Siena 645; San Marin 926; Fortuna 833; Harker 715; Piedmont 808; Del Norte 1,051. What is the cutoff for div 3 and div 5? I noticed some div 5 schools have more enrollment than some of the div 4 schools.
First of all, don't go to Cal Preps for enrollment figures. The ones the NCS uses to determine which Division a school plays in is on their website here: http://cifncs.org/sports/football/files/15FBDivisions.pdf
When you look at their figures, which are reported by each school, no Div V school has an enrollment larger than any Div IV school. However, a Div V school could petition "up" to play at Division IV. But this year no Div V team choose to do so.
