2012

The 2012 season promises to be much different. Number one, many of the leagues in our division may undergo drastic changes. Number two, many of the teams in our division in 2011 may not be in 2012. Third, the state playoffs will begin with the very small step of regional playoff games after the Section Championships. I believe this will expand into an even larger regional playoff series in 2013 -- if I'm wrong, please post here.

So 2012 is the season of big change. I think I'm going to use this opportunity to expand this blog myself. I am going to focus on schools that fit currently into the Division III, Division IV and Division V -- Basically, I want to cover any team that is eligible for the Div. III or Div. IV State Championship Game.

Advertisments

One of the websites I regularly follow is the Contra Costa Times High School Sports page. They have a live blog and tweet scores as well. One odd thing about their live blog is that you have to watch an occasional commercial, which is no big deal. But the commercials they make you watch don't fit in a live blog for high school football : cosmetics for women and feminine hygiene products.

No, don't get me wrong, I know there are a lot of women out there who enjoy high school football and root for their teams just as wildly as the guys do. But I'm sure most of those women would agree something more sports related would be a better fit and would perhaps rate more money for Contra Costa Times because more viewers would actually click on the ad.

Just some late night ramblings. Tomorrow night I will post the match-ups for the weekend.

Not Long Now!

The season will kick off in just over a week from now. Sometime early next week I will preview all the games that will take place opening weekend. Keep checking back!

Friday, July 8, 2011

Schedules

As some of you know, the schedules are out and the NCS has tentatively set up the Divisions for next season. It looks like we have a couple of new schools in the Division: Moreau Catholic from the Bay Shore League and San Rafael from the Marin County Athletic League. Cal Preps has both in Division III, but the NCS has each just barely in Division IV. We'll see whether that changes in the coming couple of months.

Some of the early games are repeats of last year, but, of course, each team has undergone some level of change. Will the same top four Division teams from last year rise again? Or will there be new contenders for the crown? I can't wait to find out.

On a personal note, I have to apologize for not posting a lot lately. Usually this blog does wind down in the spring/early Summer...But I should try to post more often.

Recruiting

Hi all,

Sorry it's been a while. Life just got real busy there for a while.

I've caught up on your conversations and yes, making all state is big news.
Congrats to Jake Davis and Cody Ryden.

I would also like to hear from anyone who knows of any Div. IV prospect that has been recruited to play at the next level.

I would also like to give a shout out to the two former Division IV players who made it to the NFL:

Jahvid Best from Salesian played at Cal and was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 2010 and has the skill set to be a star in the NFL.

Ronnie Cruz from Clear Lake played at Northern State in South Dakota and signed to play with the Kansas City Chiefs (2005-2007). He later played with the Dallas Cowboys (2008). He currently plays in the UFL with the Florida Tuskers.

I know there have to be other Div. IV players in the pros. Anyone know?
