Cardinal Newman just announced an an enrollment change. They are only going to enroll 499 students next year.

At the beginning of the year everyone thought it would easily come down to Cardinal Newman and Marin Catholic for the title. But it wasn't so easy. Fortuna was leading 42-28 with six minutes left and in all honesty, should have beaten Cardinal Newman. Marin Catholic was down 13-0 in their semifinal. There were moments last week when both teams questioned playing at D4. I don't know what will happen next year, but I do believe that no matter what, a team like Fortuna can rise above the noise and match these teams play for play. They didn't mail it in -- they played and played well.

Dude. Every team showed up to play. To imply that anyone mailed it in is an insult. The point is that the NCS needs to be preasured by absolutely everyone to fix the system.

Fix the system. Not right to have a team like like Fort Bragg, who is decent, but not great have to play quality teams. Night and day the brand of football being played, NCS should change it.

I agree. Small rural public schools do not belong in the same bracket as these traditional large school powers.

Exactly. The whole point is the NCS is dominated by the wealthy urban schools. Every NCS champion is either private or from a wealthy area. And it's not like the move to D4 was a surprise. It was known last spring that Newman was going to move.

Uphill battle. Going against better coaches, athletes and training. We know what the results will be, not going to win.

Great venue for that game last night. I'd say have all the D4 and D5 title games played at that stadium in the future. Was a very fun atmosphere to be around. It was a packed house, real people in the crowd, cold but not freezing, what a great high school game feeling. The Marin team was definately the better team.

I beg to differ about better coaches. That's apples and oranges. More quality athletes per team is true. Access to players and Money, Money, Money.

Read all comments and then carefully read my reply. I think with careful consideration you will notice I was responding to an earlier comment in which the term that offended you was used. Further, you should note my message was the opposite of what you implied I wrote.
