Both teams had to use them. And most coaches know Wilson is the official ball and that’s why they use them all year for that reason. Sounds like bad preparation if the balls were an issue.
I have no idea...I'm not for or against Wilson. All I know is the NCS put it in the official bulletin they sent to all schools in August regarding the section championships. I have no idea what Wilson provided to be an official sponsor or why their ball is used. And I don't believe this is the first year - I think it goes back a few years at least.

It's in the bulletin the NCS sent to all teams in August that the Wilson ball is the official game ball for the NCS championships (section playoffs).
