Yes thanks for doing this. ^^^ not sure why your checking out now, it's the best time of the year for high school football. It's the best of the best . And we got a team still playing to root for. We gotta support Cronin and the boys. Looking forward to going and watchng this one.

I root for team, league, division, section and ultimately for the north. I go to as many regular season and playoff games I can and will do the same for regional games. I sat in Hornet Stadium for all five games held there last year at Sacramento State to root for the North and will do the same this year.

I love football, especially high school and college. The NFL has lost something the past several years.

Good luck to Cardinal Newman and St. Patrick-St.Vincent this weekend! You represent the small schools in the North Coast Section!

Great job dude! I've been going to the SBG's since they started in 06'. Great football at its best.

Biggest games of the year and this place is a morgue? Geez, let's get behind these kids. No local support?

California North Coast Section Small School Football.

The name at the top of the blog says it all. There are no local small schools left, so no big surprise to me that the activity level has plummeted. If you want to talk about a morgue with no activity.... I'm still waiting on Gil Lemmon and Karen Smith from the NCS office to respond to my letter I sent them last week. Just like this blog the NCS leadership has gone silent.

Cardinal Newman is a local redwood empire small school playing for a regional berth? Not sure why no support for those kids, they've worked their butts off to get here. I'll always embrace and cheer on a group of teenagers doing something positive. Not many her to experience what they will. I say good for them and will fully get behind them.
I thought this was always about community?

Cardinal Newman has always been considered a large school in the Redwood Empire. They play in the NBL which is a Division 2 league. This blog never covered Cardinal Newman until last season when they dropped down to Division 4 and probably will not cover them when they get moved back up to Division 3. Is there a Cardinal Newman community? Do you have to go to the school or a certain church? Wish the players all the luck and hope they win it all.

As long as a team is listed as Division IV or V in the NCS, this blog will cover them. I understand that some follow for their team or perhaps league, but I cover all the teams in those two Divisions from way up north to the Bay Area and all the counties in between.

I know many consider Cardinal Newman to be a large school, but the NCS has them listed as Division IV and, like it or not, they represent the NCS and Division IV in tonight's regional game.

Division V is represented tomorrow night by St. Patrick-St. Vincent. I wish both of them luck and hope they represent the Section and the North in the State Championships next week.

"There are no local small schools left..."

I'm sorry but I take exception to this remark. Just because my son goes to a private school should not exclude him and his teammates from being considered part of the community. A vast majority of the players at SPSV are from the local area and have played with and against each other during their elementary school years. Also all students at our school are required to perform community service hours every year to ensure that they help and contribute in their local area.

SPSV has way less funding per student than any local public HS, but there's a stigma about schools like ours due to tuition payments. I've serve on advisory committees for my kids schools and know we spend less than 1/2 the amount per student than public schools and about 1/3 at the elementary school level. Please don't make this into an us vs. them.

Good for your son congrats on a state title. Many of us were behind them. Always gonna be haters (they were home for the SBG's, pay no no attention).

Great job by coach Hawkins and the kids!

Huge news! Cronin out at Newman, took over at Windsor for TK. Big shake ups for the Empire this off season. 17' should be very interesting, can't wait.

Other comments made by the NFHS broadcast crew were also not appropriate and unprofessional.
