Division IV
It's very easy for these teams to qualify because most of them come from very small leagues or don't play many games against D-IV teams. It's tougher for teams like Piedmont or Justin Siena who play in bigger leagues with bigger schools.
Qualified (15)
Clear Lake (3-6) — Sits at 3-1 in league, so Clear Lake is qualified with one game left.
Berean Christian (7-2) — The Eagles have been on an absolute tear as of late and could make a case for the No. 3 seed with a win against Salesian this weekend.
El Molino (6-4) — Impressive wins against Windsor, Fortuna, Analy. No shame in losses to Casa Granda, Healdsburg, Alhambra, but the 35-14 loss to Petaluma is a little puzzling.
Ferndale (6-2) — One of the state's most successful programs cannot be counted out.
Fortuna (5-4) — Fortuna picked up a nice win against Ferndale and played D-III power Miramonte tough early in the season.
Fort Bragg (8-1) — Zero impressive wins, but 8-1 is 8-1.
Harker (7-2) — Harker is in and can play the role of spoiler this week against Valley Christian (3-6).
Healdsburg (7-2) — Healdsburg will be vying for the top seed.
Kelseyville (7-2) — Should end up on the road to start the playoffs, but Kelseyville will be in.
Middletown (8-1) — Hard to gauge a team (even at D-IV) that hasn't played many of the division's top teams.
St. Helena (4-5) — St. Helena is the North Central I – South champ. Hello home games against more deserving teams that didn't win their leagues.
St. Mary's (4-5) — St. Mary's could make some noise in the playoff; it's qualified with its BSAL record and played one of the most challenging schedules in the division.
St. Patrick/St. Vincent (8-1) — It'll probably come down to SPSV and Healdsburg for the top seed.
Salesian (7-2) — A loss to SPSV means the Pride are looking at the No. 3 seed at best — big game this week against Berean Christian.
Willits (6-3) — Beat St. Helena, but has losses to Ferndale (40-12), Fort Bragg (35-0) and Kelseyville (40-16).

On the Bubble (4)
Cloverdale (1-8) — Remarkably, Cloverdale can qualify with a win this week against St. Vincent (2-7) to move to 2-2 in league. To get in, Lower Lake, McKinleyville and Valley Christian would all have to lose this week because there is no way a 2-8 team would get in (or should get in) over a team with four wins.
Lower Lake (4-5) — Can qualify with a win against Cleark Lake (3-6) this week.
McKinleyville (3-6) — McKinleyville would qualify with a win against Hoopa Valley this week on the road. The teams played once, with Hoopa winning 23-21 at McKinleyville.
Valley Christian (3-6) — The Vikings need to beat Harker (7-2) this week to qualify. If they do, they'll be battle tested. They made a run to the semifinals last year after receiving a double-digit seed.

Mathematically Eliminated (3)
Piedmont (2-7), Swett (2-7), Justin Siena (1-8).
The problem with the way things are now, is that teams are needing to run it up on the lower teams to vie for positioning. Fort Bragg downed the ball on the one yard line against Willits with over two minutes left in the game. Middletown usually has their subs in by halftime, even though their scores have been higher then most, it could have been a lot worse. To knock these two teams because they are stuck in a smaller league isn't completely fair. Moyer and Foltmer have to much class to rub it in the faces of the other teams, so they do what they can to keep the scores down.
I agree for the most part about what anonymous @ 3:11 said. But that last part is not completely true. Last year with Upper Lake Fort Bragg had their leading rusher still in the game 10 minutes into the third quarter. Final score was 66-0. Either he was padding stats or running up the score.
Both Ft. Bragg and Middletown could have put up over 100 points on Upperlake last year. 6 out of 10 games Upperlake gave up 50, 60 or 70 points.
No kidding. Come on, you really feel the need to bring up last year. 75% of the points scored against Upper Lake last year by Fort Bragg were by players other than Jake. Fort Bragg had an amazing offense last year in which there were 6 or 7 players that scored consistently. I guess they could have kneeled down every time they got the ball and not scored at all. I also can't believe that the first post basically gives no credit to Fort Bragg or Middletown. Which basically means no credit at all to north or south as both teams have beat everyone in south and Fort Bragg only lost to Middletown.
I find it even more amazing that after Fort Bragg had zero credit coming into last year, and became the DIV IV champs, that they still receive no credit this year. Middletown and Fort Bragg are definitely the cream of the crop of the NCL north or south. I hope either one of these teams wins another championship for the NCL...tougher road this year with the new additions, but rooting for either one even harder now.
I couldn't agree with you more. I mean, come on, FB won the division last year and no credit at all. In fact, this years team has a better record at this point than last years team. I'm not from Middletown, but I really hope that they stay strong and take it this year, especially after the above post. I too will be rooting even harder for both teams.
Fort Bragg will lose early in the playoffs. Theyve played shitty teams all year and the only good team they faced was Middletown. And they lost bad. Fort Bragg deserves no extra credit than they already have. Aside from that though are you telling me that a team like Clear lake is going to make the playoffs?
From what I saw last year was the first time in 10 years Fort Bragg won a LEAGUE title and you’re looking for respect? Proud of the players, sure but don’t be too proud of an 8-1 season so far. Didn’t you go to the games Fort Bragg played in this year? They barely beat Lower Lake, they have not played Kelseyville yet. Willits is so-so. The rest of the South league is, I don’t know, in a building year? As for Clear Lake having a shot at going to the playoffs they will be doing it with a total of about 1200 yards rushing as a team.
Fort Bragg is not the same Football team as last year. Tough to replace that talent. But they are a good team and are well coached. Their offense is good enough to score on anybody. Remember they weren't a high seed last year and they beat some good teams on the road. Their school has a good Football tradition, I don't understand the bashing. i am not from Fort Bragg, just someone who knows football in that league.
From the first post, I see that I left one team out: Lower Lake.
I'm guessing most of these Fort Bragg bashers are private school supporters. Maybe they are still upset that a public school won the section last year. Maybe they are upset that their school had to go out and recruit even more players and spend more scholarship money to get the job done right this year, who knows? Fort Bragg has won 7 championships under coach Moyer, they must be doing something right out there in the sticks.
