Fortuna is now 3-0 against D3 schools. They deserve some respect from the seeding committee.

Middletown lacks a coaching staff. Painfully obvious. Wow!

That's a good run...

I see it as:

1. Justin Siena
2. Valley Christian
3. Arcata
4. Salesian
5. Fortuna
6. Fort Bragg
7. St. Helena
8. Middletown

What kills Arcata is the lopsided loss to Valley Christian and that affects Fortuna as well. The same can be said for Fort Bragg whose only loss is to St. Bernard's. And that loss affects Middletown and St. Helena who both lost to Fort Bragg.

Of course, Valley Christian has a loss to St. Mary's that takes some of the sparkle off their record.

Both of Justin Siena's losses were to Div. III playoff teams. Plus, they beat St. Mary's 47-14, the very team that beat Valley Christian.

Tonight I will try to put together the list of teams that qualify for the playoffs. Remember, a team doesn't have to be .500, but at least .500 against Div. IV teams.

I think I read that there may be as many as 17 that qualify -- of course not all apply. But I think we might be able to pick the top 16 anyway.

How does St. Helena get an 8.4 rating from MaxPreps when their first four games of the season were against D5 schools?

when the sched came out berean and cloverdale were d4 st.vincents and tomales were d5 powers until ferndale went to d 5 ferndale will win the final by 4 or 5 touchdowns

JS will most likely get the #1 over VC due to the common opponent of St. Mary's. I think Arcata lost to VC without their starting QB, and then VC lost their starting QB for the season before the St. Mary's game, so a 2-3 rematch could be interesting. VC looks like they are back on track though going into NCS.

Class A, do you think there will be 16 teams in the D-4 bracket? I think Baypreps had at least 16 teams as qualified. Or do you think there will be 2-3 teams with byes?

And why do you say middletown lacks a coaching staff.

Do any of the teams in the D4 bracket have a chance at State with a NCS win?

Sideliner, VC could qualify for the D-4 regional bowl game if they won the NCS bracket because they are the only school under 500. Every other NCS D-4 team can only qualify for the D-3 regional bowl game. The major contenders for the D-4 regional bowl game would be Central Catholic, McClymonds, Ferndale and VC.

The problem for the other D-4 schools in NCS is they would be up against El Cerrito, Marin Catholic and Cardinal Newman for a spot and that is not likely. Especially in light of last year when Salesian had an awesome team and couldn't qualify over Campo for the D-3 game last year. Had they had this year's bowl system last year, you probably would have seen Salesian and Campo play, but it is so different this year.

Dude I like your rankings and reasoning, should be a good tournament. to anonymous who said middletown lacks a coaching staff. you must be a hater or some parent who's kid doesn't play. I know those guys, pretty good coaches. I also agree Ferndale will win D5 BIG

There are 17 teams that qualify for the playoffs, but I doubt a team like 3-7 Healdsburg would apply. So I think we'll have as many seeds as teams apply.

I will post a possible 12 seeded playoff and ask that you come up with what you think will happen.
