MCAL is making some noise in Division 4 this year...

Sure the MCAL is making some noise this year, when you start putting 900-1000 student schools into a traditionally 400-500 division thats going to happen, how bout we put justin at d5 and marin catholic d4 for 2013 just in case they dont win their sections this year...i dont even know if drake and san marin are public or private..help me on that

Both Drake and San Marin are public schools -- not private.

Justins enrollment is only around 600

Wow so if St Helena can take down salesian, we will have 3 of 4 public schools in the final four.

This playoff field is overall competitive and I think each team left has a chance to make a good run.

Here are your enrollments
Drake 982
San Marin 926
Arcata 870
Justin 645
St Marys 618

St. Helena 525
Fort Bragg 524

Wow I did not realize there was such a wide gap in school size for division iv.

not to mention Ferndale which is normally in D4 with an enrollment of 136

No wonder Ferndale did not petition up. I had no idea they were letting schools up to 1000 students into the small school playoffs. What was the old cut off 800 students?

Should be 3 divisions something like up to 650 D3 650-1500 D2 1500 up D1 but with the NCS greedy money machine they will probably try and add a new division...NCS motto (Mo playoffs,Mo money)

Ferndale did not petition up this year because they are hoping to make it to the state tournament, and knew it wouldn't be possible for them in Division 4.

The advent of the regional games make some teams question the need to petition up. Cardinal Newman nearly decided not to this year.

I think next year we'll see very few teams petition up and opt to play in their division and take a chance on an invitation to a regional game.

I think there is only D1, D2, D3, and small school state bowl games. there is no D4 state game

Anonymous said...

So...what are the enrollments for the various State Bowl playoffs? It would appear that Ferndale will be forced to play Div 4 teams in their run for the small school bowl championship.

Or are Div 4 teams included in D3 when it comes to state bowl playoffs?

This should answer a few questions...
