First Round of the NCS Division IV & V Playoffs

Regardless of any controversy, we have some playoff games that need our attention.  We can focus on demanding more transparency and potential rule changes after the season is over.  I think there should be enough momentum for this after we crown two section champs.

Here are the match-ups:

FRIDAY NIGHT:

Valley Christian @ Stellar Prep

Lower Lake @ Del Norte

South Fork @ St. Helena

Kelseyville @ Justin Siena

Kennedy @ Piedmont

SATURDAY AFTERNOON:

CSD @ Berean Christian

Ferndale @ St. Bernard's

Cloverdale @ St. Vincent

Terra Linda @ San Marin

SATURDAY NIGHT:

Piner @ Fortuna

El Molino @ McKinleyville

Moreau Catholic @ Fort Bragg

Tomales @ Middletown

St. Patrick-St.Vincent @ Swett

Any word on Valley Christian if they gotta sit their ejected players? Are they going to forfeit? I would assume not because they accepted their seed.

The playets that were ejected during the Hercules game had to sit the following week, which is why they had to forfeit. But it appears they will be playing this weekend. I'm not sure if they have to sit the first half of not.

I'm sure the NCS has clearly written rules on the subject.

Which they may, or may not, follow.

So why the ejections anyway?

I heard there was a bench-clearing fight, but I don't know if that is accurate.

Yes, also subject to interpretation. ..by one person apparently.

Any word on why Maclymond isn't in the playoffs? Were they stripped a birth due to the QB transfer deal?

The Oakland Section has there own playoffs.

Ok thanks for the clarification on that. Although it's a shame that they don't compete against the other D4 or D5 teams. That would be a better bracket for them rather than an Oakland tech or Castlemont. I never heard of they stripped their wins due to the QB transfer. I gotta tell you it's a shame. Just like Middletown and the kicker. I think the CIF should allow open enrollment just like the Sonoma county teams of the NBL/SCL have the luxury of doing.

I'm not sure how many games McClymonds had to forfeit - if any - but with a 9-0 record, they had to go on the road for the first game of the playoffs. They will likely be one of the north's teams in the small school regional game. Who will they face?

Class A Dude said...

Oops...I just realized they haven't begun their playoffs yet...just a regular road game.

Of course, if the CIF makes them forfeit the first four games, they won't be considered fir a regional game. CIF may not want them period.

Real shame in all counts. It's funny that a Salesian type can bring in players from Vallejo and Concord etc and offer them "financial assistance" with no scrutiny yet a public school gets penalized for the same possible move. Real shame.
