To Class A Dude:

Selecting an All-Division team is a cool idea, but a major undertaking. Thanks for your efforts.

I wonder why you didn't get copies of the All-League teams as selected by the coaches, and use that as a guide for the all-division nominations? Seems to me that if a player makes all-league, he should at least be considered for all-division.

It's pretty hard to vote when I've only seen a few of the nominees play.

Does everyone know that Tomko was selected as MVP for offense AND defense by the coaches in his league?

Here is a link to Maxpreps rushing leaders for the North Coast Section. Not all of our teams upload their stats, but you can find some updated stats for Ferndale and others. I am not sure how to make it a clickable link, but you can just copy and paste it.

Great year for Tomko and the Mustangs. It looks like the NCL I North goes by the win your league and get the MVP rule.

In the NCL I South St. Helena's QB Morgan Densberger was voted Offensive MVP.

A lot of the leagues have yet to post their all-league teams. Next year, we may wait until each has chosen their players. But this is the first year...

Can we get Ching's, Cimolino's and Middletown's updated stats put on the Main page please?

Anonymous said...

I would also like to make note that Ching played two games at QB, got one carry against Emery, and very rarely played in the 3rd and 4th quarters. He also only had a 9 game schedule.

Ching is a great player on a great team.

Does anyone know what Javid Best's rushing record is at Salesian?

Anonymous said...

I missed how the MVP selections
were chosen.

Anonymous said...

People nominated players for Offensive-MVP.

Anonymous said...

Congrat's to all the players. It's interesting that we have MVP nominations for players who were not their league or teams MVP...

Anonymous said...

Class A Dude could only use the players that were given to him by other people.

I didnt get a chance to watch most of these players play this past year and I remember watching Cardinal Newmans QB Max Pond and others on youtube. So I looked up some of the players names that are listed here to see if I could find some video. This is the only one I have found so far.

From what i have heard Matt Ching won Offensive MVP for his league, Morgan Densberger won Offensive MVP, and Eric Tomko won Offensive MVP for their respectable leagues

Jahvid Best' rushing record is in the high 2000's i believe, before him Stan Brown held the record. My guess is that Ching probably stands 3rd on Salesians single season rushing list

After seeing his stats and watching the video that was posted I am wondering how/why the fort bragg runner cimolino was not the offensive mvp in his league. i assume the coaches voted on this, but how/why did they give both o-mvp and d-mvp to the same player? was there other issues involved other than on field performance?

Class A Dude can you please delete the above post about Ching. There is no room for these type of posts.

Oh boy, the kids must be here. Here comes more vicious personal attacks that have nothing to do with the players abilities on the field.

Class A Dude said...

Yeah, that's too bad. I'll try to keep up with those.

As far as using the MVPs and all league choices from the other leagues and conferences, I don't think that would be a good idea Division wide. All league selections are notorious for being overly subjective and a little political. Plus, the coaches are only familiar with the players they see in person and aren't that familiar with other top players in the division.

If you look at most of the All American awards given to college players, some are awarded to players who did not make all conference. Our method isn't any less subjective, but I feel that through sharing info about players, posting what stats we can get, and reporting what we observe during head to head matches within the division, we can make some headway. I think we will end up with a pretty good All Division IV team -- in fact, the only All Division IV team.

i think we have a great system here, its a shame theres people who cant appreciate individuals athletic ability

The Coach said...

I think this is a great idea... However, is there any consideration in the level of competition? Salesians plays in an extremely soft league (especially now that TKA and SHP have left). I actually saw Ching play in the Championship game, and other than a couple good runs he was shut down. I don't know if his size would hold up against stiffer competition.

What about some of the players from SPSV and St. Mary's?

Anonymous said...

Ching had 178 yards against JS and would have had over 210 but lost 40 on the quarterbacks fumble in the first quarter in which he recovered. He was getting 5-10 yards damn near every run. Gettin shutdown is what they did to ferndale's delbaggio..

who do you guys think the best D-IV coach is?

Class A Dude said...

The Bay League is definitely down from last year, but there are still a few decent teams (Berean Christian and St. Elizabeth) and a team that may be pretty tough next year, Harker. But Salesian also played a very tough non-leauge schedule: Middletown, St. Marys, Division II Castlemont and Division III McClymonds. Ching began as the QB the first two games with very few carries. So he had amassed 1760 yards with essentially only 10 full games at RB. He was certainly a factor in both of the playoff wins and he would have had 200 yards against JS were it not for a crazy play that lost 40 yards. That said, he was nominated, so he has been put up for the vote. Anyone could have nominated any player they deemed worthy and they would have been put up to vote. Keep this in mind when we do the defense. I'm going to post the defensive players we have so far today and you will have until wednesday night at 7:00 pm to add any other players.

I do know there is a SPSV player on the board, I think their QB.

Class A Dude said...

We can vote on a coach of the year, too. I'll ask for those nominations with the defense.

While both players had great years,
Cimolino played tb & Tomko played fb. with an in your face, smashmouth attitude. His leadership & intensity were the reason he was voted MVP.

Thanks mmustang for trying to clarify this issue some of us have been wondering about.

I will add that I think this is the first time I have heard of a small school player leading the entire North Coast Section in rushing with over 2,000 yards and not getting his leagues Offensive MVP award.

The voting must have come down to Middletowns win over Ft. Bragg. The score of the game would indicate that Middletown held Cimolino in check and I am assuming Tomko must have ran all over Ft. Bragg. I will see if maxpreps has any stats from the game.
