Less than a month ago, on this blog, someone stated "When was the last time a team seeded lower than 5 won the Div IV championship?" Not a common occurrence, I'm sure. But the odds of having it happen this year are quite high since 3 of the 4 teams in the semis are seeded lower than five. I can hardly wait to see who wins the championship this year.

It is interesting to note that the four teams in the Div I semis are seeded 1, 4, 10 and 11.

Wasn't St. Mary's seeded 1? And Justin was seeded 9.

Yeah! And wasn’t Middletown #4 and Valley Christian #12?

Seeding never has been, and never will be perfect,, the most important thing is that all the teams who deserved it were in the playoffs. Everyone had there shot.

Every year we hear the complaints about seeding in football playoffs. I guess because it only happens once a year. High School Wrestlers deal with seeding at every tournament, all season long. Stop the crying. All that matters is that you had your chance to beet the best and if you failed, then you failed, get a grip!!!

If my memory serves me correct, SPSV was a 5th seed in 2006 when they won the championship.

SPSV was a 4 seed in 2006, Coach. Justin Siena has won it all as both a 5 seed and a 4 seed; several teams, including Middletown and Ferndale, have won it all as 3 seeds. Ferndale has made it to the title game as a 5 seed, losing to Salesian 35-31. But so far the best is Willits. They were an 8 seed in 1992 and won it all. The winner of the Justin Siena-Valley Christian game has chance of breaking that record.

I agree with everyone who says that the seeding system is flawed.
I don't think JS should have been #9.
On the other hand I also agree with the people who say stop whinning and just play the game.
If you have a really good team then the seedings should not matter.
