is cimolino still out or is he playing for fort bragg?

Cimolino scored all the touchdowns against Kelseyville last Friday night. So he's back in the line-up.

Woah woah woah...Willits made the playoffs?? really???

Under the new rules… why yes they did!!! I think now that the have allowed more teams to participate you will see teams that are just glad to be there. Then again they don’t HAVE to play. I’m sure that some fans, coaches and players look at this as an opportunity to play some more ball. Maybe for most they will be playing for the last time. I wish I could play one more time.

I guess it gives some teams an extra home game to play...Increases revenue for the NCS...I would have rather they seeded 12, but some teams prefer to play a game than have a bye. St. Mary's will have gone two weeks without a game when they finally face the winner of the Berean Christian-Justin Siena game.

I hope Middletown has fixed the problems with their CLOCK, or clock KEEPER. Hosting a playoff game should be seen as an honor. An honor repaid with integrity. Lets not forget all the comments posted here after Middletown's home game against Fort Bragg.

Official time is kept on the field -- not the scoreboard. Middletown had 4 other home games and there weren't any issues with the scoreboard at those games.

Still, I would prefer that they have an accurate game clock on the scoreboard.

Fort Bragg Fans should not worry about Middletown's clock (BTW-they host a playoff game almost every year), and just worry about getting wins in the playoffs.

Everyone knows the officials keep the actual game time anyways.

So is it no big deal that the Ferndale, the only undefeated team in the class IV playoffs, has lost its starting quarterback. I think thats a huge deal!

Anonymous said...

Does anyone have a prediction on the St Patrick Clear Lake game?

Anonymous said...

Did the Ferndale QB also play defense?

Ferndale lost their starting QB again?? That happened last year, or the year before, not really sure. Either way it didn't stop them before. No one remembers the saga of Kevin McKay?

Class A Dude said...

How long will Ferndale's QB be out? For the rest of the playoffs, or for a couple of weeks?

They still have a great running game and their defense is nails, so I don't think it will affect them as adversely as it would some other teams.

Hes out for the season... Broken collar bone. In my opinion he was their shutdown corner and a great tackler. Now they moved their DE to corner.... He might not of been their best individual talent but might of been the most important player on the team.

Yes Ferndale's starting QB is out, but the backup has been getting lots of playing time and does just as good under center.

Salesian's head coach felt that Valley Christian was the team to beat in their league. Six of Valley Christian's starters were out (suspended) for the Salesian and Berean Christian games.

Just a little FYI. Take it for what it's worth.

As for the Clear Lake St Vincent/St Patrick game… Cal-Preps.com has SPSV winning 35-20. Highschoolsports.net has SPSV winning 36-17. The last I heard is that it will be raining this Friday. When that happens anything can happen. I also heard their main running back was out last week at halftime with an ankle injury. Hope he is back at full speed. Nice to see playoff talent.

I think Clear Lake can pull the upset tomorrow night. They have two great running backs in Kevin Burt and Ryan Lunas. Burt is nearing 1500 yards this season and Lunas is close to 1000. They gave Middletown one of their closest games of the season. And against Fort Bragg they dominated the second half, with all of Fort Braggs starters still in and Cimolino was completely healthy. There 4 losses came from 8-2 Fort Bragg. 9-1 Middletown and Cloverdale. And 7-3 St. Vincent, the number one seed in the Div. 5 playoffs. Im looking forward to the game tomorrow night.

I thought I had heard the last of the Clear Lake dominating Ft. Bragg in the second half topic. It sure is a good thing that those 42 points Ft. Bragg scored in the first half carried over to the second half.

If Clear Lake truly dominated Ft. Bragg in the second half of the game. Then how would you describe what Ft. Bragg did to Clear Lake in the first half? When was the last time a Clear Lake team gave up 40 points in a game, let alone a half?

If you narrow down the two toughest teams Clear Lake and Fort Bragg faced this year it would be #4 seed Middletown and #5 seed Cloverdale. Clear Lake gave up 45 points to those two teams. Fort Bragg lost to those teams by 80 points.

Good idea only looking at the points given up in those two games, but lets try looking at the whole picture.

Ft. Bragg did not lose to those teams by 80 points. They gave up 80 points and scored 55. Clear Lake gave up 45 points and scored 20. So both teams lost to those teams by 25 points.

Seems we are ignoring head to head in this discussion so we need a tie breaker. How about including the 3rd toughest team both Clear Lake and Ft. Bragg played this year. The #1 seed in Div V St. Vincent Mustangs.

Clear Lake lost to St. Vincent 6-42.
Ft. Bragg defeated St. Vincent 70-27.

I think Clear Lake is a good team and I will be rooting for them to pull the upset in the playoffs. I just feel the need to make sure both sides of the game/story are being put out there.

I thought the discussion at 3:18pm was about how many points Clear Lake gave up. Clear Lake was not the only defense giving up points. Clear lake gave up fewer points to Middletown, Cloverdale and SV than Fort Bragg did to those same teams 87 to 107. What is not settling to some is the fact that Clear Lake DID dominate Fort Bragg in the second half. I can agree that Fort Bragg dominated Clear Lake in the first half and to a greater degree.

My whole point in this discussion is you cant just focus on half the story/game.

Once again if you only look at points given up then your missing half the story. The other half of the story is Clear Lake scored 27 points in those 3 games and Ft. Bragg scored 125. So in this comparison Clear Lake gave up 20 fewer points and Ft. Bragg scored 98 more points.

Both teams are having good years and were rewarded with NCS playoff births.
Clear Lake is 6-4 with 276 points scored and 197 points given up.
Ft. Bragg is 8-2 with 483 points scored and 155 points given up.

I do not want anyone to think I am bad mouthing Clear Lake in anyway. I really think Clear Lake is a good team with a fantastic rushing attack. My only problem is the amount of times I have heard about this second half domination in a 49-20 loss. Down 42-0 if Clear Lakes goal was to win the second half and not the game then that was a great accomplishment for them.

I will be rooting for all the NCL teams to win this weekend, except for Willits that is.

Just kidding Willits fans!!!

Clear Lake is always going to play Middletown tough. Clear Lake and Middletown have been the best two programs in Lake County since the 1997 season and they have developed a preseason rivalry. With that said, it is natural that they are going to have closer games than the matchup on paper would indicate.
St. Patricks St. Vincent is a very strong team. Clear Lake needs to play mistake free and not have any turn overs. They need to have long drives where they can eat the clock and keep St.Pats offense off the field. Hopefully Clear Lake can pull the upset. GO CARDINALS!

I have seen predictions for scoring in the games this weekend and the weather will cause much lower scores than predicted. The possible exception might be artificial turf fields. Even in that case the wind may cause lower scores. I know one team that practiced all week dipping the ball in a bucket of water between every play.
