Wow. A little out classed, manned, and sized. DV has the whole team coming back next year so I am sure they will have a great team.

I am sure they will. The playoff experience is valuable, especially playing one of the best small school teams great in the section. For such a young team to have this much experience and success, I think the next two years Dougherty Valley will have great seasons.

I'm not so sure about Dougherty Valley being all that good for a while. I was at the game today and I don't mean to sound crass, but DV was not a very good team. Not having any seniors surely hurt them, but they would have to get a whole lot better to have an average year in the DFAL League next year with the likes of Miramonte, Campolindo and Las Lomas. They played a fairly weak schedule this year making their record somewhat deceiving. The QB Spivey is a good athlete but he does not throw the ball well. The RB Sites was pretty much contained the entire game so it was hard to get a read on how good he is. Dougherty has an uphill climb for sure.

I don't think they will win their league next year, but I do see them being competitive in the Diablo Foothill League. Actually, they were this year. Dublin, who will be their main rival, had to pull out all the stops, beating Dougherty Valley 32-21 -- pulling away at the end. Dublin lost some close games, including a 27-21 loss to Division II playoff team Concord. You have to think of Dougherty Valley as a great JV team. They only have 9 juniors, the rest sophomores. Also, don't short change how good Ferndale is. I believe that if Ferndale played in the Diablo Foothill League this year, they would have won the league. Case in point: Diablo Foothill champ Campolindo beat Northgate 28-7. Northgate also lost to Berean Christian 26-21. Berean Christian lost to Dougherty Valley 30-27 and didn't even qualify for the Div. IV playoffs.

I think Dougherty Valley will finish with an even record or better next year.

football ferdale: if you don't think playing without seniors is no big deal, then just for fun, don't play with yours next week or next year and see how you do.

OK my friend. Relax a bit there. Please show me where I said playing without Seniors is no big deal. In fact, I said it WAS a big deal and it showed for Dougherty.

That being said smart guy, much of Ferndale's team is Juniors including the QB Robertson, the RB Coppini and their best lineman Sarvinski. All played a big part in that win yesterday. Not to mention, many of the sophomores from the JV team that were brought up for the game saw some playing time and looked better than DV's starters. We would've beaten DV without our Seniors in that game. Justin-Siena and Middletown or Salesian is a whole different deal.

So yeah, it would be tough to win without Seniors but next year many of those DV players will be Seniors and I don't see them beating the teams I mentioned. It may take some time was my point. Dougherty Valley is a very nice school that has just started. It is growing yearly.
